Post Indian air strike on terrorist camps in Pakistan, the relation between India and Pakistan has escalated very much. Amid tensions on both the sides, Pakistan Air Force jets attempted to cross the LoC and attack military installations but all of their attempts had been foiled by the IAF.

In a bid to defend this attack by Pakistan, Wing Commander of Indian Air Force, AbhinandanVarthaman who had been on duty at that time chased F-16 jet of Pakistan Air Force with MIG-21 Bison Jet of India. In the wake of chasing, Abhinandan crossed the LoC into the Pakistani side and much maneuvering took place between both the Jets. Finally, he succeeded in attacking the F-16 with one missile and downed it.

Unfortunately, he could not return on the MIG-21 because it crashed after that and the brave-hearted pilot came down on the parachute. But he managed to land on Pakistan occupied Kashmir and was eventually captured by the Pakistani Army. The country hailed his achievement as it was nearly impossible to down an F-16 Jet which is technologically very much upgraded by a MIG-21 model of the Sixties.

Amid such escalations, Indian External Ministry called the acting high commissioner of Pakistan and made a tough-worded demand to return Abhinandan unhurt immediately. According to the Geneva convention, Pakistan was bound to release him as soon as possible because if it does not follow the Geneva convention, it will face International pressure from the United Nations.

Although Pak PM Imran Khan declared it as a gesture of peace talks, India is not at all ready to listen to his bluff and demanded an immediate release of the brave-heart pilot. As proof of military escalations, India mentioned the broken parts of F-16 found on the PoK.

Finally, Pakistan conceded to India’s demand but refused to send him back by air as demanded by India. Instead, Pakistan offered to send him through Wagah-Attari border amid tight security on the 1st March.

Citizens visiting the Wagah border to witness Beating the Retreat ceremony one day back stayed there to take a glance of their favorite hero. From the morning, thousands of people thronged to the Wagah border to witness the return of Abhinandan. Initially, it was declared he could reach the Wagah border by 3 pm. But due to the Retreat protocol, it was delayed further.

At the border citizens coming from all corners of the country put an air of celebration. The optimum facility of 30000 visitors exceeded from the beginning. All around the country people wished a safe return of this national hero and celebrated the incident with pictures of Abhinandan and burning firecrackers.
