Steve Smith ruled out of third Ashes Test after suffering a concussion

Australia coach Justin Langer confirmed that Smith will not be playing in the third Test match of the Ashes after he was struck by a Jofra Archer bouncer and suffered a concussion.

  • Steve Smith was hit in the neck by a 92mph bouncer from Jofra Archer on day three of the second Test.
  • Both doctors of Australia and England assessed Smith at Lord’s and wouldn’t have compromised him. We all agree player/ athlete welfare paramount.
  • Australia’s batting without Steve Smith looks like the Australia A team. Still a world class bowling attack, but really mediocre top order. Someone needs be the stand-out player that everyone bats around. England need to make it 1-1 so when I go to the Oval it’s not a dead rubber.
